Nagaland: 9 more Chennai returnees test positive

As of 8:15 am, June 3, the state's total number of positive cases stands at 58.

Kohima: Nine more Chennai returnees have tested positive for coronavirus or COVID-19 on Wednesday. As of 8:15 am, the state's total number of positive cases stands at 58.

Taking to twitter, Health minister Pangnyu Phom tweeted: "Update! Out of 115 samples tested, 9 more returnees from Chennai tested Covid-19 positive. Positive : 58 Active : 58 Recovered : 00 Death : 00 Update at 08:15 am, 3rd June 2020".

The health minister informed that all who tested positive are returnees from Chennai.

The first COVID-19 cases were detected in the state on May 25 when three persons -- two men and one woman -- who returned from the Shramik special train from Chennai in Tamil Nadu on May 22, tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Two were from Dimapur and one from Kohima.

On May 26, another Chennai returnee tested positive for COVID-19 in Kohima. Later on May 27, five positive cases were reported in the state, out of which four were from Dimapur and one from Tuensang.

Nine new COVID-19 cases were reported on May 28 out of which six were from Dimapur and three from Tuensang and on May 29, seven COVID-19 positive cases were reported of which two were from Dimapur, four from Kohima and one from Tuensang.

On May 30, 11 new COVID-19 cases were reported of which eight were from Dimapur and three from Kohima. The next day, seven more Chennai returnees tested positive for COVID-19, out of which four were from Kohima & three at Dimapur.

While the first day of June recorded no new positive case in the state, six more Chennai returnees, all from Dimapur, tested positive for COVID-19 on June 2.

All active cases in the state are related to the Shramik special train from Chennai.
