Nagaland: Taxi services in Kohima to follow a colour-coded routine

Any taxi in Nagaland capital Kohima plying on non-coded days & not abiding by govt guidelines shall be penalised & taxi permits cancelled amid COVID-19 lockdown

Kohima: Following the Nagaland government’s directive to permit the movement of taxis within the districts, the Kohima administration on Tuesday notified that taxis will be “colour coded” and will ply only on the days assigned. The taxis will be permitted to operate within the Kohima municipal jurisdiction on four days of the week.

A guideline issued by deputy commissioner Gregory Thejawelie on Tuesday said that the taxis will be coded into four colours — pink, blue, green and yellow. The deputy commissioner said that the taxis will be allowed to ply only on the coded days as: Pink on Monday; blue on Wednesday, green on Friday; and yellow on Saturday.

The taxi fares will be charged as per the prescribed existing rate at Rs 30 per passenger (point to point) and Rs 100 for hire (point to point). The taxis will ply only in the Kohima Municipal Area till IG Stadium on the north, BSF camp on the east, Kohima bypass on the west, Phesama gate on the south and the New Secretariat Area.

It informed that the public can avail of the services by contacting the numbers of the in-charges.

It notified that the taxis will be permitted to ply with the condition that they carry not more than two passengers. Both the driver and the passengers should wear masks and use sanitizers at all times and the taxis should be properly sanitized and disinfected, it said.

It warned that any taxi found plying on non-coded days and not abiding by the guidelines shall be penalized as per the provisions of the law and the taxi permits will be cancelled.
