Hundreds of people take out rally in Dimapur, demand immediate solution to Naga political talks, submit memorandum to PM Narendra Modi through DC’s office
Dimapur: Hundreds of people came out to join a peaceful rally for a Naga political solution at the DC court Junction in Dimapur, Nagaland on Monday. Organised by the Dimapur GB Federation and the Naga Council Dimapur, the rally saw speakers from different organisations and sections of society coming out with a common voice to tell the government of India that the people of Nagaland want a solution at the earliest.
Speaking at the rally, T Bangerloba, president of Naga Council Dimapur, said that Naga people want a solution immediately and they do not want to linger on anymore without a solution. Sungsabeni Jamio, president of Naga Women Hoho Dimapur, added: “We have sacrificed too many souls.”
Many women and children have lost their husbands and fathers because of the Naga political issue, she said, further urging the Centre for an urgent solution, which should be for all the Nagas.
Speaking at the rally, Dr Kaketo Zhimomi, president of the Western Sumi Hoho Dimapur, said that the 22-year-old negotiations have been going nowhere but for excuses after excuses. Zhimomi further urged the Centre not to prolong the talks and give out a solution immediately.
Former Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Z Lohe, while speaking at the gathering, said that only with peace can the state justify the statement of “Nagaland for Christ” and not with factions and guns. Lohe further said that actual peace can be brought to Nagaland only after the Centre gives a proper final solution.
After the peaceful rally, people marched towards the deputy commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The rally was also carried out in all the 11 districts and two subdivisions of Nagaland, which was initiated by the Nagaland GB Federation.
