Members of all NSCN groups, including NSCN (IM) are likely sit together informally at Kingdom leaders prayer breakfast to be held on February 8
Kohima: Representatives of all NSCN groups—including NSCN (IM), are scheduled to informally sit together at the Kingdom Leaders prayer breakfast to be held on February 8 at Hotel Vivor at 9:00 am. However, chief negotiator Th Muivah and Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) convenor, Kitovi Zhimomi, will not be part of the gathering.
Speaking with EastMojo, Vinoka Ayemi, correspondent secretary of the Nagaland Gaon Burah Federation (NGBF) said that this is the second gathering organized by the Federation in collaboration with the Fathers House Church, where all Naga political groups, political party leaders, top leaders of the state and civil societies come together.
While the first gathering was held in November last year, Ayemi said that such gatherings are held with the aim to bring all leaders of the Naga society under one roof and “to create a peaceful and mutual understanding”.
“We are seeing some positive steps,” he said recounting how only four representatives each from both the NSCN (IM) and the NNPGs attended the first gathering as 14 NNPG members and 12 NSCN (IM) members will be attending the scheduled gathering on Saturday. Ayemi said, “At the end, there will be only one solution, so we are trying to unite all the Naga rebel groups together so that we can have an early solution, although it is a spiritual gathering and there will no political talks”.
“In the next step, we are trying to call the chief negotiator Th Muivah and NNPG convenor Kitovi Zhimomi, but that will gradually follow as we continue to make our efforts of creating a mutual understanding between the groups,” he added.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) general secretary, Rev Zelhou Keyho, said that ever since the church body met the top leaders of the NSCN (IM) and NNPGs in New Delhi in November last year, NBCC has been urging for the need to bring all the negotiators under one roof. However, the groups are yet to respond to the calling.
