Smuggled items worth over Rs 45 lakh seized by Assam Rifles troops from mobile vehicle check-post near Zubza in Kohima; 2 persons arrested in this connection
Kohima: Assam Rifles (AR) troops have seized smuggled pyrotechnic explosives and illegal Myanmarese contraband items worth over Rs 45 lakh. An official statement issued by the PRO defence said that the smuggled items were seized from a mobile vehicle check post near Zubza in Kohima, Nagaland.
The statement said that based on specific information, troops at the check post stopped a Tata truck carrying smuggled goods. On spot checking, 3,900 pyrotechnic low-explosive canisters (200 gm each) amounting to 780 kg of explosives with wire-based kit and 55,500 packets of smuggled Myanmarese cigarettes worth over Rs 45 lakh were recovered.
It said that the recovered stores were suspected to have been smuggled from Myanmar. Two persons have been apprehended in this regard. The recovered smuggled items and the apprehended individuals along with truck were later handed over to the Zubza police station in Kohima for further investigation.
