Shutdown of institutions called by All Nagaland College Students’ Union on January 22 in solidarity with rest of Northeast protesting against Citizenship (Amendment) Act
Dimapur: With the Supreme Court hearing the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) petitions, including those filed by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, on Wednesday, the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has called for a total shutdown of universities and colleges across the state to show their resentment against the contentious law.
By declaring a total shutdown of institutions in the state, the ANCSU has joined hands with the rest of the region in strong solidarity and protest against the CAA.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the ANCSU said: “The ANCSU while considering the ill repercussions of the CAA, 2019 on the masses of the North Eastern States, in strong solidarity and participation, appeal all the colleges in Nagaland to observe total shutdown of the institutions on 22nd January 2020.”
“The union further appeals the college/institute authority, faculty, staffs and the students to observe this day as a sign on anti-CAA, 2019,” the ANCSU further appealed.
