Naga groups, Kuki body KNO to work closely to resolve differences

Imphal: In a significant development, the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs) and Kuki National Organisation (KNO) have agreed to work together closely in resolving all differences through democratic political process.

Both the groups have also decided to apprise each other on issues potentially having socio-political ramification for one community or the other, during the course of negotiation for political settlement and peace talks with the Union of India.

Following thorough deliberation on various contentious issues, both the groups have also decided to respect their history and identity in future as well.

“After thorough deliberations on contentious political, social and inter-community matters prevailing for decades, particularly in Manipur state, the WC, NNPGs and KNO, in a joint declaration, have agreed to work together closely in resolving all differences through democratic political process thereby the history and identity of one is respected and acknowledged by the other, now, and in the future,” the declaration said.

The significant declaration, signed by N Kitovi Zhimoni, convenor, WC, NNPGs; and PS Haokip, president, Kuki National Organization (KNO), recently, further said that in the principle of harmonious peaceful co-existence, NNPGs and KNO shall, from time to time, apprise each other on issues potentially having socio-political ramification for one community or the other, during the course of negotiation for political settlement and peace talks with the Union of India.
