Dimapur: Nagaland minister of higher and technical education and tribal affairs Temjen Imna Along was re-elected as the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president for a term of four years.
A statement from the party said that Along was re-elected in the presence of the party's central leaders at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur.
BJP, a coalition partner of the ruling government's Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA), has been in power with CM Neiphiu Rio-led Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) since 2018. The first time legislator was also elected as the BJP state president replacing Visasolie Lhoungu as the party chief that year.
Meanwhile in July last year, Along was given the additional charge of tribal affairs. He had contested from the Alongtaki constituency in Mokokchung district on a BJP ticket.
Minister of transport, civil aviation and railways, land resources, Paiwang Konyak was elected as the National Council member, the statement added.
