Guwahati: Toyi Swuro, the shoemaker who made the youths of Nagaland nod their head in appreciation, has once again made the people of the state proud after he bagged an award at the 1st Northeast Unsung Heroes Red Carpet Social Awards 2019 in the entrepreneurship category in Mumbai recently.

Putting up at a small room in his native Phek town of Nagaland and repairing footwear for poor kids free of cost, the 25-year-old youth has been weaving success stories one footwear at a time.

In a video shared with EastMojo, Swuro challenged the youths of the region by quoting Mahatma Gandhi, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world. I challenge the youths to take up the menial work and shower the courage and power of dignity of labour. Let’s be the change.”

Swuro was given the award by Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at a programme that was hosted by Find Studio & Seil in Mumbai on November 15. The shoemaker from the remote town of Nagaland is the founder of Craft Gallery shop in the town that sells footwear and other small accessories as well.
