The wild animal is suspected to be behind the killing of livestock in the area recently; it is currently under veterinary care at Nagaland Zoological Park
Kohima: Officials of the department of forest and climate change (EF&CC) captured a wild leopard at Purana Bazar-B village in Nagaland’s Dimapur district on Friday.
The leopard, which was suspected to be responsible for killing livestock in the area recently, is under veterinary care at Nagaland Zoological Park.
“Investigation, monitoring and surveillance via trail cameras were followed upon by the wildlife wing along with the assistance from village council members and GBs of Purana Bazaar-B village,” sources in the department said.
Based on specific inputs of sporadic and continual loss of grazing livestock on village lands and its proximity to urban human habitation, the call was taken by the department to trap and relocate the animal.
