Nagaland governor reviews 14 road projects with Nitin Gadkari

Discussions made with special focus on Dimapur-Kohima four-lane project; RN Ravi also meets civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri for early operation of air services

Kohima: Nagaland governor RN Ravi on Thursday held a meeting with Union minister of road transport & highways Nitin Gadkari at Transport Bhavan in New Delhi, informed a Raj Bhavan statement.

A review of the status of 14 road projects under the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) in Nagaland was taken up during the meeting with special focus on Dimapur-Kohima four-laning project.

At the meeting which was also attended by the chairman NHIDCL and other senior officials of the ministry, Gadkari assured all possible measures to be taken to ensure completion of the projects on time.

Meanwhile, Ravi said he will periodically review the status of these projects with all persons concerned, including the senior officials of NHIDCL, to monitor the progress.

Earlier, the governor met Union minister for civil aviation Hardeep Singh Puri in New Delhi on Tuesday and raised the issue of air connectivity of Nagaland with the country and the Northeast region where he requested for the early operationalisation of air services from Dimapur-Guwahati, Dimapur-Imphal and Dimapur-Dibrugarh route under UDAN.

Puri assured that flight services on these sectors will begin by October this year. Improved air, surface and digital connectivity of Nagaland is a priority concern of the governor, a separate Raj Bhavan statement said.

Following the meeting with the civil aviation minister, Ravi took an inter-ministry meeting on Wednesday at Nagaland House in RK Puram, New Delhi where all operational and logistic issues related to improvement of Dimapur Airport as per the standards of the director general of civil aviation as well as early operationalisation of better regional air connectivity of Dimapur were discussed.

The meeting was attended by ministry of civil aviation, ministry of home affairs, Airports Authority of India and flight operators like Air India/ Alliance Air and Indigo.

Later that day, Ravi met Union defence minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the security situation in Northeast India, particularly in Nagaland.
