The deputy national security adviser, who took over as the Centre’s representative for Naga peace talks in 2014, replaces PB Acharya
Kohima: RN Ravi, the interlocutor for Naga peace talks, took oath as the 19th governor of Nagaland at Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Thursday. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice (Acting), Gauhati High Court, Arup Kumar Goswami.
Ravi and his family arrived at the state capital on Wednesday.
Earlier, Ravi, who is also the interlocutor for Naga peace talks, took the general salute at Raj Bhavan accorded by the Nagaland Police on Wednesday.
He was received by chief minister Neiphiu Rio; deputy chief minister Y Patton, ministers, advisors and senior officers of the state led by chief secretary Temjen Toy and DGP T John Longkumer.
Ravi was appointed as governor of Nagaland by the President on July 20. Upon arrival, he was greeted at the Dimapur airport by minister of agriculture & cooperation G Kaito Aye; minister of PHED Jacob Zhimomi; commissioner of Nagaland M Patton; deputy commissioner Dimapur Kevekha Kevin Zehol; commissioner of police Dimapur Limasunep Jamir and others, PRO Raj Bhavan informed.
Ravi was accorded a warm welcome by people clad in traditional attire as they represented the various tribes.
