Nagaland poet Tialila Kikon releases her second book of poetry
Kohima: Nagaland poet Tialila Kikon has released her second book of poetry titled, Dandelion Dreams. The book, released on Saturday, has been published by Cyberwit.
According to the 45-year-old poet hailing from Dimapur in Nagaland, Dandelion Dreams tries to give hope to any individual on this planet who has lost his or her faith in life. Her maiden book, Paper Cranes, has been shelved in the Library of Congress, Washington DC, the oldest federal cultural institution in the United States.
In her latest book, Kikon has tried to bring out the bitter reality of the world through some of the poems. At the same time, some of her writings fill the hearts of readers with hope and faith. They encourage readers to believe in one’s own dreams.
“Dandelion Dreams is a collection of contemporary poetry written with a sincere belief that life can still be a beautiful dream amidst all the rejections, pain and disillusions of the world and no matter how small our dreams may seem at times, flow we must with the tides of life and bloom like strong and beautiful dandelions in the sun, undeterred by disgrace and storm. If the poems in this book can inspire at least one weary soul to embrace 'hope' one more time with faith, I shall be grateful and consider my wish fulfilled,” says Kikon.
Kikon is a mentor at Peren Government College in the Peren district of Nagaland where she teaches literature. Her works were displayed at the Moberly Arts and Cultural Centre in Vancouver, Canada on World Poetry Day on March 21.
Deeply in love with poetry, she is inspired by life, love and nature and believes that humanity is the only religion that can heal the world. A few of her poems were published in 'Feminist Voices Across Cultures: A Poetry Anthology' and some of her Tanka poems appeared in 'Winter Writes: Poems, Stories & Sagas', a kindle ebook published by the Whitesboro Group of Writers, New York.
