A moment of immense pride for the state of Assam as Sarodee Borah bagged the nomination for the prestigious “Mirchi Music Awards 2020” in the “Upcoming Female Vocalist” of the year category. This is also the first national recognition of its kind for a girl from Assam.
She has been nominated for her song ‘Sapne Jo Bhi’ from the movie Jindegi Tumse
Sarodee Borah‘s musical journey started way back in 2009 in Mumbai as a playback singer. She trained in professional singing at the SaReGaMaPaDhaNiSa Academy by Gajendra Singh under the tutelage of stalwarts like Pt. Maniraj, Ismail Darbar, Abhijit Bhattacharya, Sucheta Bhattacharjee. However, her major break in the ever-evolving and versatile music industry came in the form of a call to perform at the MTV Coke Studio with music directors Ehsaan and Loy (of the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy fame).

Speaking on her achievement, an elated Sarodee Borah said, “I feel very satisfied for finally being acknowledged for my efforts and struggle in the Indian Music Industry. This Mirchi Music Award nomination is a testimony to my parents who has sacrificed a lot to support my journey.”
Her mother Runumi Borah, a social worker from Dibrugarh has been away from home with her for almost a decade to support her during her initial days. Her father, Pradip Borah, a teacher by profession too has always been by her side throughout her days of struggle and learning.

Sarodee has worked in as many as 10 Bollywood movies, as a playback singer for stars like Alia Bhatt, Kajol, Genelia D’Souza and Tabu to name a few. She has over 20 daily soaps to her credit.

Sarodee’s USP — she has been singing not just in Hindi but in Punjabi, Rajasthani, Marathi, Bhojpuri and Assamese as well. In 2018, she bagged the “Best Playback Singer Female” award in the Rajasthan Cine Awards for a song in the movie Page 16. In 2019, she was nominated for the “Best Playback Singer Female” award at the Bhojpuri International Film Awards (BIFA) as well.

She has sung Ghazals and Dohas narrated by Javed Akhtar. Sarodee crossed the international borders when she performed the theme songs of Afghanistan’s National Football and Cricket teams. She has also sung for Lakme Fashion Week 2016 and 2017 for Dada Saheb Phalke awardee designer Sanjukta Dutta, Gujrat Tourism, Uttar Pradesh Tourism, IPL to list a few.
