The year 2019 has been marked with innovation in all walks of life.  As this eventful year comes to an end, it is the time for everyone to celebrate. Khasi duo based in Mumbai Adiel Massar& Kevin Lywait released their flashy new number Back 2 Back, with Dappest humming to the beats. Groove to its beats as you feel the love in the song, this is a must for your Northeast music playlist if you plan a party this New Year’s Eve.

‘Journey’ (Meba Ofilia ft. Khasi Blood)

Khasi rapper Meba Ofilia’s energetic new single with K-Bloodz is rooted in hip-hop and R&B. If your New Year resolution is to hit the gym, this up-tempo number would push you to the limit as you struggle with weights.

‘Azli Hai’ (Moksh x Yugi Beats)

Multilingual rapper from Meghalaya Moksh dropped this number during the anti-CAA protests that erupted in the Northeast earlier this month. This is a “tribute to the voice of dissent, revolution and it celebrates the defiant ones who do not live to be suppressed by the system or its norms”.

‘Hiyo’ (Tetseo Sisters) 

Just two albums and they are where they are — popular not just in India but internationally. They have performed live not just in Northeast but in China, Thailand, South Korea, US and the UK. The vocal quartet from Nagaland Tetseo Sister’s Hiyo is a celebratory Naga folk song which talks about what life is. It is a refreshing new this is a must for your Northeast music playlist which would fill you up with hope as you take on the New Year.

‘Five n’ Forever’ (Colossal Corp)

Keeping the rock music scenario alive, Colossal Corp’s new single is a tribute to their bond of friendship that has kept the band together for years. Heavy on bass and guitars the song is deeply rooted on rock music with few “modern touches”. This is a must for your Northeast music playlist.

From the ‘tight rolls’ to the ‘riffs’ the band has experienced many highs and lows in the first six to seven years. It was the culmination of all those experiences that led to the formation of the new song which is also an ode to the bandmates of Colossal Corp’s, both old and new.

‘Dur Hua’ (Nilotpal Bora)

Another melodious single from Assamese songwriter and producer Nilotpal Bora released just before 2019 wraps up. A hymn of love and longingness, a soulful track to fill you with emotions as spend this New Year’s Eve with your loved ones.
