The fans of ‘Bridgerton’ no longer need to wait for updates on Season 2 of the hit show. Netflix unveiled eight new photos from the upcoming season on Wednesday and it has been trending on social media ever since.

‘Bridgerton’ follows eight close-knit siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family in Regency-era London who attempt to find love in the competitive marriage scene. Packed with romance, glamour, sex, costumes and scandal, the period drama was watched by 82 million households within the 28 days of its airing, making it then Netflix’s most highly watched show. It has since been surpassed by ‘Squid Game’.

Based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, the show is produced by Shonda Rimes, the creator behind ‘Scandal’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, and stars Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, Jonathan Bailey, Ruby Barker, Ben Miller and Golda Rosheuvel among others.

While Season 1 focused on the love story and marriage of Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), the new season will follow the story of the eldest Bridgerton child Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his pursuit to find a suitable partner. New characters are going to be introduced to the show such as Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley of ‘Sex Education’) and her sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran), from the noble Sharma family newly arrived in London from India. However, we will be missing the memorable Regé-Jean Page as the dashing Duke of Hastings in the next season.

‘Bridgerton’ has been notable for reimagining many characters from the books as people of colour. By casting many of the characters as black, Asian and other non-white races, ‘Bridgerton’ looks at the courting, scandals, nobility and class through the prism of race relations.
Season 2 of ‘Bridgerton’ will stream on Netflix from March 25.
