With Avengers: Endgame home release just around the corner, Marvel Studios has released the latest deleted scene from the fourth Avengers movie on Friday, and we are surely going to need some tissues.
The deleted scene revolves around the reaction of all the other Marvel heroes right after Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) snaps his finger, saving the multiverse. In the process of getting rid of Thanos (Josh Brolin), Stark aka Iron Man is sacrificed. While the scene is overwhelming enough to make one cry, the makers just couldn’t satiate the emotional overdose, as Gamora (Zoe Saldana) too makes an appearance in the 1.35 minute video. She is seen unharmed after the epic battle, and is slipping away as the other Avengers kneel down in respect to the fallen hero.
After turning Thanos’s army to dust, Tony Stark with his homemade gauntlet falls down to his eternal slumber and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) gives him the final kiss. Actor Jeremy Renner, here Hawkeye, first kneels down to honour Stark’s ultimate sacrifice to save the multiverse, and the rest follow his suite.
The scene has no real dialogue but it portrays more than words can ever do. The immediate moments after Earth’s mightiest heroes see a fallen comrade and a leader. This unspoken moment was enough to tug on the emotional strings of the fans.
Here is the video:
As far as the reason as to why this scene was deleted from the main movie timeline, producer, scriptwriter and film directors Joe and Anthony Russo was quoted as saying by USA Today, “It’s a beautiful scene with moving performances, but we filmed it prior to Tony Stark’s funeral, the funeral scene ultimately became a more resonant and emotional reflection on Tony’s death for us.”
This makes a lot of sense and also adds a hint of mystery, as in the next scene, all the characters are dressed in black and in attendance for Stark’s funeral, apart from the two other fallen Avengers — Vision (Paul Bettany) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Gamora. Her fate remains as an unsolved part of the puzzle which can go on to become another MCU masterpiece.

Even though the scene does feel a tad bit incomplete and unfinished in terms of the CGI, it did have the much-desired impact totally refreshing the minds of the fans.

Another notable feature of the 1.35 minute deleted scene was the exit of Gamora without paying any respect to Iron Man. This can be understood as she is the Gamora from 2014 when she was still an assassin for Thanos, so she didn’t have any emotional connection whatsoever with the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) heroes. This, however, fully confirms what happens to Gamora after the Tony snap which can now justify Star-Lord’s mission at the end of the movie to find her.
Avengers: Endgame is set to hit the digital screens on July 30 and is bound for its Blu-ray release on August 13.
