Imphal: Manipur Health and Information and Public Relations Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh on Thursday said that a survey of different diseases is needed and its updated data need to be maintained.
Minister Ranjan was the chief guest at the inaugural programme of the ‘One Day Orientation Programme’ for nurses on the theme of ‘Prevention, Early Identification and Early Intervention of Developmental Disabilities’ held at mini auditorium at RIMS in Imphal West.
He said a majority of the general public do not know their health status. Regular testing and updating health status will help reduce life risk and expenditure. The minister informed that preventive measures will help to bring a good healthcare system.
Minister Ranjan maintained that departments of health, social welfare and education needed to work together.
He further informed that nurses play a very important role in the healthcare system and advised them to render their services sincerely and with dedication. They should acknowledge that they play a motivational role. Trainee nurses also should get ideas and share knowledge with others after every training or seminars, he added.
Speaking as president of the occasion, RIMS director Prof Dr A Shanta said that disability of an individual may be because of the negligence during pregnancy period of a mother. We need to be aware about the possible outcomes when we are careless during this stage, he maintained.
Brogen Singh Akoijam, Dean (Academic), RIMS, Imphal, Dr Shaik Yaseen Shareef, Asst. Professor, CRC, Devanagere, NIEPID Manipur State Coordinator, Rajendra Kumar, Praveen, Asst. Professor, Special Education ERC Rajnandgoa, NIEPID Manipur State Coordinator also attended the programme.
