Aizawl: Mizoram Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Dr. K. Beichhua on Thursday inaugurated a district veterinary hospital in south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai town. The construction of the Rs 90 lakh project began in March 2019

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Beichhua said the state government has been making massive efforts for the development of the state and has been undertaking project works despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the government has been constructing new veterinary hospitals in seven districts and four of them, including the newly-inaugurated hospital in Lawngtlai, have been opened so far.

The government has already allocated funds for the construction of three more veterinary hospitals, he added.

Efforts were being made to install hatcheries at veterinary farm at Tanhril near Aizawl and Mampui in Lawngtlai district.

The minister also said the government was making efforts to ensure that the state becomes self-dependent on meat and other meat products. According to him, currently 70 per cent of meat consumed in the state is imported from other states.
