Aizawl: Mizoram on Monday reported 165 new COVID-19 cases, 414 less than the previous, with the tally increasing to 1,21,524, a health department official said.

579 cases were reported on the previous day (Sunday). The death toll rose to 433 as two more people have succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, he said.

The single-day positivity rate dipped to 7.49 per cent from 9.74 per cent on the previous day, he said. 

Of the 165 fresh cases, 146 were confirmed through Rapid Antigen Tests, while 19 cases were detected at  FIA (Fluorescent Immunoassay) facilities, he said.

At least 47 children were among the newly infected people, he said.

The number of active cases now stands at 6,479, while 610 people recovered on Sunday, taking the total recoveries to 1,14,612.The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 94.31 per cent and the death rate is 0.35 per cent.

According to a Mizoram government bulletin, Aizawl district reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases so far at 75,209, followed by Lunglei district (9,864) and Kolasib district (7,726).

So far, Aizawl district reported the highest fatalities at 301, followed by Kolasib district (30) and Lunglei district (27), the bulletin said. Of the 11 districts in Mizoram, Khawzawl has not reported any COVID-19 fatality till now, it said.

According to Mizoram Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), more than 13.12 lakh samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, of which 2,204 samples were tested on Sunday.

As regard vaccination, the government has administered 12.11 lakh doses to beneficiaries till October 29, of which over 6.97 lakh people have received the first dose and 5.11 lakh people have been fully vaccinated, government sources said.
