Aizawl: In a major successful operation, Assam Rifles recovered a huge cache of ammunition and other war-like stores near Tiau Kai village in Champhai district of Mizoram on the Indo-Myanmar border on Saturday, Assam Rifles said in a statement.
The operation was launched jointly with leaders of Tiau Kai village, it said.
Based on specific information, Assam Rifles team along with village council representatives of Tiau Kai village carried out a detailed search in the nearby forest and recovered a huge cache of ammunition and war-like stores, the statement said.
The recovered items included 100 live rounds, 38 numbers of Neogel Gelatin and 251 detonators, it said.
The recovery has prevented the loss of precious lives as usage of such ammunition and war-like stores could endanger the lives of innocent people and lead to illegal activities, the statement added.
