Aizawl: At least 12 pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants established under PM CARES fund were inaugurated across Mizoram hospitals on Thursday along with 35 oxygen plants inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi across 35 States and Union Territories, an official said on Friday.
The PSA oxygen plant in Serchhip district hospital was among the 35 plants inaugurated by the PM via video conference in an event held at AIIMS Rishikesh in Uttrakhand, the official said.
The PM CARES-funded oxygen plants were inaugurated at nine district hospitals in Mizoram and three hospitals in Aizawl, including Zoram Medical College (ZMC) and Mizoram State Cancer Institute (MSCI), on Thursday, he said.
The 1000 LPM PSA oxygen plant installed at Lunglei civil hospital could not be inaugurated along with others due to refrigerant leakage and it will be commissioned soon once the installing company replaced the refrigerant, he said.
13 PSA oxygen plants established under PM CARES fund were installed in 13 hospitals across Mizoram.
Apart from 10 district hospitals, ZMC and MSCI, the oxygen plant has also been installed at Kulikawn Hospital in Aizawl, previously a mental hospital now converted into Dedicated Covid-19 Health Centre (DCHC).
Till now a total of 1,224 oxygen plants have been funded under the PM CARES fund across the country, of which more than 1,100 plants have been commissioned providing an output of over 1,750 MT oxygen per day, the PMO said on Thursday.
Inaugurating the oxygen plant at Mizoram State Cancer Institute (MSCI) at Zembawk in Aizawl, Chief Minister Zoramthanga expressed happiness over the commissioning of oxygen plants in various hospitals across the state.
He said that the plants will facilitate the generation of adequate oxygen to cater to the needs of Covid-19 patients and patients of other diseases in the state.
The virtual inaugural function at Serchhip district hospital was attended by health minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana.
