Aizawl: Mizoram on Friday reported 210 new COVID-19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 14,743, an official said.

He said that the single-day infection rate has decreased to 5.86 per cent as the new cases were detected from 3,581 sample tests.

Of the 210 fresh COVID-19 cases, Aizawl district reported 144, Lunglei 35, Lawngtlai 16, Kolasib 10, Champhai and Mamit two each and Siaha reported one case, he said.

More than 50 children were among the newly infected people, he said.

Eight patients have travel history, while the rest were found to have locally contracted the infection, he said.

Of the 210 patients, 136 have developed symptoms of COVID-19, he added.

Mizoram now has 3,578 COVID-19 active cases, while 11,104 people have recovered from the infection. At least 61 people have succumbed to the infection.

The recovery rate is 75.31 per cent and the death rate is 0.41 per cent.

The state has tested 4,24,717 samples for COVID-19 till date.

According to state immunisation officer Dr Lalzawmi, 2,81,950 people have been administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Of this, 52,840 have received both the doses till Thursday.
