Aizawl: Easter Sunday, that marks the victory of Lord Jesus Christ over death after his crucifixion, was celebrated in all parts of Mizoram on Sunday under strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
Special prayers and worship services were also held by all churches of different denominations. The Easter Sunday celebration began on Saturday night, with Catholic Church members holding Easter vigil to mark the beginning of the celebration.
Band parties of different corps of the Salvation Army in different woke the Aizawl populace on Sunday morning by playing the hymn “He’s arisen” while in rural villages, children came out to the streets singing hymns and shouting slogan “He is arisen” to mark the beginning of Easter Sunday.

Sunrise services were organised by the youth wings of both the Presbyterian and the Baptist Churches in their respective local churches.
Preachers of different churches preached sermons on the resurrection of Christ.
Last year, Easter Sunday was celebrated behind closed doors due to the Coronavirus inducted nation-wide lockdown.
