AIZAWL: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles troopers recovered 29 leopard tortoises, 38 red-footed tortoises, 17 yellow, orange, green iguana, 3 bearded dragon, 3 albino iguana, exotic seeds and fertiliser in General area of Friendship Bridge along the Tyao River in Mizoram on Thursday, Assam Rifles sources said.
The operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Customs Department based on specific information, it said.
The accused, along with the seized illegal items, was handed over to Customs Department for further legal proceedings, the statement said.
