Esther Hnamte, the four-year-old singing sensation from Lunglei in Mizoram, whose Vande Mataram rendition stirred souls across the nation, has been awarded appreciation letter and cash incentive by Mizoram Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai.
Esther’s uncle Beiseia Renthlei said that she received Rs 5,000 and citation from the Governor. The family is “really happy and excited” on receiving the recognition, he added.
Renthlei said they plan on using the money her next project. She is coming up with another video for Christmas.
Esther’s cover of AR Rahman’s Maa Tujhe Salaam had caught the eye of the nation, including the singer himself and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In fact, her video has crossed 1 million views, and is nearing the 2 million mark. To celebrate the milestone, a celebration was organised on Friday.
Along with Esther, Lalhruaitluanga Chawngte, innovator of roadside libraries in Mizoram also received appreciation letter and cash incentive.
