State’s tally rises to 384; altogether 373 samples were tested at ZMC and Lunglei civil hospital on Monday
Aizawl: At least 23 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours in Mizoram, taking the state’s tally to 384, government sources said.
A statement issued by state information and public relation department said that the new cases confirmed at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Monday night included 22 Assam Rifles personnel, who currently posted at Zokhawsanga near Aizawl and one civilian, who returned from Nepal recently.
It said that 373 samples were tested at ZMC and Lunglei civil hospital on Monday out of which 350 came out negative.
There are 191 active cases in the state while 193 people have already recovered. The recovery rate is 50.26 per cent.
Aizawl district reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 205 of which 145 are active patients, followed by Lunglei district at 71. There are 20 active cases in Lunglei district.
Of the total 26 cases in south Mizoram’s Siaha district, three are active patients, Champhai district has so far reported 13 cases of which three are active, in Kolasib 12 reported the 14 cases and 12 already recovered and Serchhip district reported a total of seven out of which four are active patients.
Mizoram’s southernmost Lawngtlai district has reported 21 cases, and eight of them have already recovered. Mamit district reported 21 cases of which 20 were discharged. Khawzawl and Saitual districts have three cases each who have recovered.
The newly created Hnahthial district continues to remain immune as no Covid-19 cases have been reported in the district till date.
As of now, Hnahthial, Saitual and Khawzawl are Covid-19 free districts.
A health department official said that as many as 20,053 samples have been tested till Monday.
Of the 361 total cases, 334 were diagnosed with the help of RT-PCR machine at ZMC, 24 with the help of TrueNat PCR at Lunglei civil hospital, two from Rapid Antigen Test and one at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
