3-day flower exhibition-cum-fair being organised in Kolasib till Jan 24; inaugurated by Kolasib DC Sangchhin Chinzah at circuit house on Wednesday
Aizawl: Kolasib District Florist Association in collaboration with office of the divisional horticulture officer organised a three-day flower exhibition-cum-fair from Wednesday.
The fair was inaugurated by Sangchhin Chinzah, Deputy Commissioner, Kolasib at DC Circuit House, Bangla kawn, Kolasib.
Mizoram is famous for florists who are emerging and have attained considerable development into the beautification of their surroundings through the flowers and plants that they grow.
These flower exhibitions and fairs are a great platform for florists to promote and opportunity to sell and display their various flower collections.
C Lalremsiama, divisional horticulture officer, Kolasib Division, pointed out that the Centre of Excellence for Horticulture at Thingdawl has experimented and is working towards popularising the curcuma flowers in the state.
Besides a variety of flowers, Mizoram is famous for producing high quality anthuriums. A festival is held each year for this species of flower which attracts tourist from various parts of the state.
Different varieties of anthurium are exported from Mizoram each year.
