While a 53-yr-old woman died after the car she was travelling in collided head-on with a motorbike, a four-year-old girl was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Kolasib
Aizawl: At least two persons, including a minor, were killed and another injured in road mishaps in Mizoram in just two days.
Police said that a 53-year-old woman met with a tragic death on Wednesday when an Eon car she was travelling in collided head-on with a speeding motorbike on the National Highway-306 (formerly 54) near Kolasib town bordering Assam.
The victim, Lalchungnungi, was travelling in the car with her friend and they were heading towards Buhchangphai village on the Mizoram-Assam border when they collided with a bike coming from the opposite direction on the National Highway between Kolasib and Thingdawl. The car rolled down the gorge after the collision.
The 53-year-old woman from Aizawl's Falkland area died on the spot while her friend Lalchunglura escaped injury, police said. The biker, F Lalhmingthanga, sustained fractured bone in his leg and was rushed to Kolasib hospital.
Lalchungnungi's body was sent to her residence in Aizawl after post-mortem at Kolasib hospital.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Amberly Vanlalmalsawmi lost her life in a tragic incident in Kolasib town. The 4-year-old girl from Muabuang village near Aizawl was walking by the roadside when a speeding vehicle (Bolero) hit her.
She died en route to the hospital.
Amberly arrived in Kolasib on December 30 with her parents to spend the holiday and celebrate New Year.
