Powerful image of Tuikum volleyball player Lalventluangi’s stolen moments to breastfeed 7-month-old baby in between a match during ongoing state games goes viral
Aizawl: A volleyball player in Mizoram has been hailed after a touching photo of her breastfeeding her seven-month-old baby during the half-time of a match went viral.
Lalventluangi plays for the Tuikum constituency and the image was captured on the first day of the ongoing Mizoram State Games 2019 in Aizawl on Monday.
The stolen moments to breastfeed her infant in between a game have been lauded by everyone. Many people lauded her dedication for the sport, at the same time fulfilling her responsibility of motherhood. She has become the 'mascot' of the state games.
Hours after the picture went viral, Mizoram sports minister Robert Romawia Royte has decided to reward her with a sum of Rs 10,000 as a token of appreciation.
The state games are being held from December 9 to 13 this year as part of the government’s endeavour to promote games and sports in Mizoram.
The state government has allocated Rs 1.5 crore for the purpose.
During the five-day event, competition is being held in at least 40 disciplines under the supervision of 32 sports associations. The competition is being held constituency-wise.
In April last year, a Canadian hockey player Serah Small earned a lot of praise for a similar act of breastfeeding her newborn baby during half-time of a match.
The teacher had given birth just eight weeks earlier Grande Prairie in Alberta, Canada. As per reports, Small was back on the hockey rink just eight weeks after giving birth to her baby.
