Mizoram govt to dole out Rs 25 lakh cash incentive to students

Candidates who clear various competitive examinations conducted by UPSC & others to be rewarded under the state’s flagship ‘Socio-Economic Development Policy’

Aizawl: As part of its efforts to encourage more students to join Central and state services, the Mizoram government will continue with doling out cash incentives to those candidates who successfully clear competitive exams conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and state recruiting agencies.

Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) chairman Dr Vanlaltanpuia told reports on Wednesday that the government would give incentive cash award of Rs 25 lakh to students who clear various competitive exams, under the state flagship programme -- Socio-economic Development Policy (SEDP).

The incentive will be distributed on December 20, he said.

He said that cash incentive of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to students, who clear the mains of civil services, Indian Forest Service and Indian Economic or Statistical Services conducted by the UPSC.

Rs 1 lakh each will be doled out to those who clear preliminary exams of civil services, and who clear main examination of National Defence Academy, Combined Defence Services, Assistant Commandant of Central Armed Police Force, Common Admission Test (CAT), IIT-JEE, Special Class Railway Apprentice, Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner, Combined Engineer Service, Combined Medical Service and Combined Geo-Scientist & Geologist, mostly conducted by the UPSC.

Rs 50,000 each will be given to students who clear various exams, including GATE or IIT JAM, Military Nursing, Group ‘A’ posts under the Union government, Chartered Accountant and UGC NEET.

Besides, a cash incentive of Rs 40,000 each will be given to students who clear combine graduate level of various examinations conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Group ‘B’ posts in Indian Railways, Indian Army, Navy, Air Forces Post Graduate gold medallist and postgraduate students with NEET, and Rs 30,000 each to those, who clear Combine Higher Secondary level examination conducted by SSC, participants of Asian or Commonwealth Games, gold medallists of National Games representing Mizoram, Group ‘C’ posts under Indian Railways, Indian Army, Navy, Air Forces and toppers in Class X examination conducted by Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE).

He said that the commission is making massive efforts to embark on a new chapter. “The government has prepared policy, road map and action plan for the MYC, which will be released on December 20,” he said.

Laltanpuia also said that the commission would soon launch an app, which will be web-based and mobile phone-based, to cater to the needs of students in search of jobs.

He said that the government has also been making an effort to extend coaching center for IAS aspirants.

According to the chairman, the government is also making massive effort to enroll as much as possible of youths in the Indian Army.
