Aizawl: Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Saturday slammed the state government as well as education minister Lalchhandama Ralte for allegedly recruiting 91 employees without floating any advertisement.

Speaking to media at a press conference, Congress media chairman and spokesperson Lallianchhunga said that the Mizo National Front (MNF) government headed by chief minister Zoramthanga has recruited 91 employees under school education department since December last year.

Of these, 36 were recruited under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and 55 under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) Mission.

Lallianchhunga alleged that recruitment was made without floating advertisement and a majority of the employees were recruited on the basis of undue favour by the education minister.

As per RTI responded by SPIO of Samagra Shiksha, Mizoram, as many as 36 employees have been recruited under SSA mission during 10 months from December, 2018 to September 2019 without floating advertisement, Lallianchhunga said.

The SPIO also said that recruitment was made without advertisement due to absence of recruitment rules.

Lallianchhunga said that over Rs 1.05 crore will be spent annually for the new employees.

He also alleged that the state government has recruited 87 employees under RMSA mission during 10 months from December, 2018 to September, 2019, of which 55 were without floating advertisement.

The government will spend Rs 1.78 crore per year for 55 employees, he said.

The Congress leader also said that recruitment of 91 employees without advertisement under school education department is detrimental to education minister’s comment that all government recruitment would be made in a free and fair manner irrespective of party affiliation.
