Aizawl: The Mizoram government has decided to double the old age pension in state. This was announced by state education minister Lalchhandama Ralte on Tuesday, while addressing a gathering in Aizawl to mark International Day for Older Persons on October 1.

The minister also stated that the meeting of council of ministers, which was held on Monday, has agreed to enhance state’s contribution towards old age pension schemes under National Social Assistance Programme by 100 per cent.

Meanwhile, the meeting of council of ministers has agreed to withhold the pay of government servants who fail to submit annual statement of immovable property returns in order to enhance transparency and check corruption. The deadline has been fixed on December 31.

The meeting also agreed to raise the minimum age limit for superannuation of medical doctors from 60 to 62 and recruitment of 72 assistance professors under RUSA.

To enable re-employment of ex-servicemen under the state government, the meeting approved the Mizoram Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in civil posts) Rules, 2019 and also draft Mizoram Municipal Common Cadre Service Rules 2019, Mizoram Municipal Subordinate Service Rules 2019, draft Mizoram Subordinate Service Selection Board (Recruitment and Condition of Service) Rules, 2019 and the draft Mizoram Public Service Commission (Condition of Service) Regulations, 2019.
