Mizoram deports over 100 persons excluded from Assam NRC
Aizawl: Over 100 people, who were excluded from the final list of the National register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam, have been sent back from Mizoram since August 31. Mizoram home minister Lalchamliana said that those who were detected were sent back to the neighbouring state from the inter-state border.
The Mizoram government has taken up measures to check and block illegal entries to the state. Lalchamliana commented that stringent mobile patrolling has been taken up at towns like Rengtekawn, Kolasib, Bukpui and Serkhan.
“We shall continue to maintain stricter vigilance to check illegal entries into the state,” he added.
The home minister also stated that all border police check points will soon be computerised. This will enable authorities to verify the addresses of Mizos who have sponsored Inner Line Permits (ILP) to outsiders seeking jobs within the state. He also said that it is the responsibility of all Mizos to check illegal entries into the state.
Meanwhile, the state home minister also called on residents of Mizoram to exercise more caution while sponsoring ILP to outsiders, as there have been instances of ILP holders shifting to other jobs without the knowledge of authorities.
