Working President Lyngdoh & General Secretary Dr Das Gupta submitted resignation

Shillong: In another setback for the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress committee, working president James Lyngdoh and former general secretary Dr Manash Das Gupta submitted their resignation on Wednesday.

During a press conference at Shillong Press Club, Lyngdoh has alleged that MPCC president Vincent Pala has stripped him off his responsibilities and sidelined him.

“Served for 33 years and I never faced any problem with the past MPCC presidents but incumbent president Vincent Pala has decided to not give me any work and all of them have treated me like they don’t need me anymore,” claimed Lyngdoh in a letter to the Congress headquarters.

Adding that he had to analyse before taking this drastic step, Lyngdoh said that he has always been a hard-core Congress worker.

Asked about his next move, Lyngdoh said that he is looking and intends to join the others but hasn’t decided which political party.

Meanwhile, Dr Manash Das Gupta’s letter to the  MPCC president about his resignation did not mention his reasons to resign.

Das Gupta’s resignation reds, “I, hereby, resign as chairman, Labour Department, MPCC and chairman, Vichar Vibhag, MPCC, with immediate effect. I also, hereby, resign from the primary membership of Indian National Congress, with immediate effect, after having served the Party for long thirty six (36) years and also having served as general secretary, MPCC, for long 14 years, till the recent reshuffle of MPCC.”
