NPP candidates Pyniaid Syiem and Lamphrang Blah

Shillong: National People’s Party (NPP) president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma Thursday accompanied the two party candidates – Pyniaid Syiem and Lamphrang Blah – to file their nominations for the upcoming by-polls from Mawryngkneng and Mawphlang constituencies.

NPP leaders including Deputy Chief minister Prestone Tynsong, Sniawbhalang Dhar,  Former CM DD Lapang, NPP state president WR Kharlukhi came together to give their blessings on the two candidates and also held a prayer meeting before walking towards the Deputy Commissioner’s office. 

Speaking with mediapersons following the filing of nominations, Blah said he was confident as he has the support of the electoral of Mawphlang constituency. 

A four-time Member of District Council (MDC) from Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Blah urged the people of the constituency to vote for him so that he will be able to fulfill his ambition to serve them as their MLA . 

Blah said the electorate is educated and far sighted, and would think about the future of the constituency while voting.

Pyniaid Syiem is the sitting MDC from Mawryngkneng Constituency and Lamphrang Blah is the four time MDC from the Mawphlang Constituency.

Syiem said, as an MDC, he has been working hand in hand with the people of Mawryngkneng. Basic necessities are his first and primary objectives, if elected, but at his MDC level, he has brought in many developmental projects in the constituency and, if the people give him a chance as their MLA, he promised to finish the pending works done by the previous MLA. 

Syiem also said, if elected, he’ll bring out an employment policy and take it to the MDA government as well as policy to tackle substance abuse, which is a menace not only in his constituency but across the state.
