Shillong: Meghalaya will allow educational institutions and tourist destinations to open from September 1 2021.
Following a Cabinet meeting held in Shillong, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed that in urban areas, online classes would continue for Classes 1-5. Class 6-8 can visit the school, and Class 9-12 will have regular classes. However, in rural areas, regular classes will resume for 6-12, while regular visits will be allowed for Classes 1-5.
The Chief Minister further stated that all tourist destinations would open for tourists from other States. Only those who are vaccinated with double dose and others with a negative RTPCR report taken 72 hours prior to the visit will be allowed, he added.
He further said that all details of the stay and other itineraries of the visit should be disclosed to the authorities.
The government had recently decided to open public parks like Ward’s Lake, Lady Hydari Park, etc., only for vaccinated persons, subject to compliance to protocols. Other privately-owned parks have also been permitted to re-open for vaccinated persons.
Several sports activities have also recently been permitted to reopen subject to compliance with the SOPs issued by the Sports & Youth Affairs Department for Resumption of Recreational and Competitive Sports. To name a few were like — Archery, Shooting, Cycling, Athletics and Running, Golf, Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Snooker, Weightlifting and Billiards, etc. Teer Counters and archery have also been permitted to open four times a week.
Places of worship also opened on August 21.
