The results of Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) exams have been declared and 900 teachers failed to clear the test. This resulted in a demonstration by the All Meghalaya Government LP School Contractual Teachers’ Association at the Malki Ground in Shillong on Monday.

The teachers are demanding a second opportunity to retain their jobs, as out of 1,100 applicants only 200 could clear the eligibility test. This puts the jobs of the remaining 900 contractual lower primary teachers at risk.
