Shillong: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Shillong on Saturday morning to inaugurate the 69th plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC).
Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma was present to welcome Shah, who was also accompanied by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, Vice Chairman, NEC.
The meeting will discuss various ongoing developmental projects and future plans for the northeastern region.
Following the NEC meeting, Shah is set to meet with local NGOs at NEC secretariat. It is to be mentioned that local NGOs like Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisation (CoMSO), North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) to name a few have time and again carried out protests demanding the central government to implement Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.
