Shillong: The Meghalaya Education department has now informed that selection test for appearing in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) will not be carried out.

The department informed that the SSLC and HSSLC exams will be held in March-April.

The selection test is also popularly known as pre-board exams. Students must clear this test so that they can sit for the final board exams.

The department in its notification stated, “All schools, including the unaffiliated schools, should note the same and should not conduct any selection test at their level. Similarly, no selection test should be conducted by District Education officials for SSLC and HSSLC examinations, 2021.”

The order further mentioned that as a one-time exemption, all candidates who are willing to appear in the SSLC and HSSLC Examination 2021 but had failed in selection test conducted in the year 2019, will also be allowed to appear in the examinations. As for private candidates, they can appear directly in the final examination after following the due procedure.

The notification reads, “All concerned should note that the cancellations of selection test and subsequent opportunity given to directly appear in the final SSLC and HSSLC Examination 2021 is done as a one-time exemption to ensure safety and health of all the stakeholders because of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation. Those failing in the examination to be held next year may have to go through selection test and the current notification should not be treated as precedence.”
