Meghalaya Assembly approves Governor's Rule for Garo Hills Autonomous Council

Administrator’s rule has been approved for six months or till the constitution of the new council through an election, whichever is earlier

Shillong: On day one of the Autumn session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly the House approved the government resolution for Administrators rule in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council.

Minister-in-charge of District Council Affairs, Lahkmen Rymbui tabled the resolution on Thursday in the House.

In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the General Elections to re-constitute GHADC had to be postponed to a date to be decided later. The present term of the GHADC ended on October 18, 2020 but effective October 19, Administrator’s rule has been approved for six months or till the constitution of the new council through election, whichever is earlier.

The Governor of Meghalaya will assume the administration of GHADC.

Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong, who is also the minister in-charge of PWD (Roads) tabled the Forty First Annual Report of the Meghalaya Construction Corporation Limited for the year 2018-2019.

MLA & Chairman, Public Undertakings Committee, Brening A Sangma tabled the report of the Committee on Public Undertakings on the Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India for the year ending March 31, 2018.

MLA & Chairperson, Committee on Empowerment of Women, Ampareen Lyngdoh tabled the third report of the Committee for the year 2020.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma also in-charge of Finance tabled the Supplementary Demands for Grants and Supplementary Appropriation for the year 2020-21.
