Meghalaya Minister James Sangma's security jeep meets with an accident in Nagaon

According to sources, the pilot vehicle hit a stationary truck at a very high speed and skidded off the road. Four constables injured, two are critical

Meghalaya power minister James K Sangma, who tested positive for COVID19 during a Rapid Antigen Test at Imphal on Saturday, met with an accident at Nagaon in Assam on his return journey to Shillong.

The accident took place early morning on Sunday. According to sources, four of the police constables, who were in the Meghalaya minister’s pilot car, were injured in the accident.

The vehicle in which the minister was trailing a couple of metres behind and stopped in time.

The accident took place in front of a petrol pump in Nagaon. Meghalaya power minister James Sangma's pilot car hit a stationary truck and skidded off the road. Eyewitnesses say the convoy was driving at high speed. Out of the four constables, two are said to be critical.

James K Sangma, who is also the elder brother of Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma, after testing positive in Manipur on Saturday, decided to undergo RT-PCR retest in Shillong.

Details about the accident are awaited. He was shifted to his car from an ambulance in the Assam border.
