Meghalaya records 52 new COVID-19 positive cases; state tally at 610
Shillong: Meghalaya on Monday recorded 52 new COVID-19 cases taking the total active COVID-19 cases to 610.
The 52 new cases are from - East Khasi Hills District 11 ( 1 from Armed Forces and 10 others), Ri Bhoi District 2 ( 1 Armed Forces and 1 other), West Garo Hills 39 (29 BSF and 10 others).
The new recovered cases recorded for Monday till 10 am was 8 (East Khasi Hills 3, West Garo Hills 5), this takes the total recovered cases to 498.
In comparison to all the other districts in the state East Khasi Hills is the worst coronavirus-hit district with a total of 427 active COVID-19 cases. Out of these 427 cases – 91 are from the BSF, Armed Forces have 69 and the others 267.
Meghalaya has now crossed the thousand mark with 1,114 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, 498 recovered and 6 deaths.
Earlier, Director of Health Sercives, Dr Aman Warr informed that the contact tracing of the pharmacist and the tea vendor is being carried out. Dr Warr said that the contact tracing of the tea vendor would be a massive one.
Dr Warr had informed that so far from the pharmacist and the tea vendor over 400 contacts have been identified.
The pharmacist from Civil Hospital, Shillong who was awaiting his COVID-19 results had earlier violated quarantine protocol to drop his spouse to South West Khasi Hills District and later returned to his quarantine centre. The pharmacist’s results tested positive for COVID-19.
While the tea vendor who tested positive for COVID-19 is one of the tea vendors from Kyndai Lad also popularly known as Police Bazar.
