Meghalaya: 71 clusters identified, random testing to be carried out
Shillong: The Meghalaya government on Thursday identified 71 clusters across the state where random testing will be carried out through antigen testing.
Addressing the media, deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said, “In the review meeting today, we discussed that after seeing the situation we are taking into consideration the inputs furnished by the Health Department. The government has taken a decision that 71 clusters proposed by health department have been identified. Random testing by antigen test will be carried out in those clusters very soon.”
The health department will be on the job to conduct the testing in the respective clusters.
The role of the Covid-19 management committee was also discussed since 7,000 committees have been constituted that can also be part of this operation which is to be immediately undertaken by health department.
Meanwhile, random testing is also being carried out in areas like Rynjah-Umpling, Mawpat, Khanapara and a few others.
The government aims to carry out this random testing more aggressively in order to fight against the virus and to avoid any community transmission.
