Shillong: In the ongoing inquiry over the Greenwood Resort wedding held at Khanapara in neighbouring Assam, which is being carried out by the deputy commissioners of Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi and East Khasi Hills districts, it has come to the fore that a total of 47 persons had attended the controversial event.
Earlier, the number that was received by the government was 41. However, after a detailed inquiry, it has been found that a total of 47 people had attended the wedding. A total of 39 people from East Khasi Hills had attended, of which four are new names. A total of eight people from Ri-Bhoi district were part of the gathering, the inquiry revealed.
During a media briefing, deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said, “In a review meeting held today, we discussed about the report we received from the two DCs as far as those wedding attendees at Greenwood Resort were concerned. After the detailed inquiry, we found out that 47 people were involved or attended the wedding party. In East Khasi Hills, we have another four people.”
Earlier, the deputy commisioner of East Khasi Hills had submitted an FIR against 35 people who had attended the wedding. The DC has been instructed to file the remaining FIR.
According to Tynsong, the inquiry is still going on to find out if any other high risk contacts are yet to be known.
