Shillong: 10 people who attended a wedding at Greenwood Resort at Khanapara have tested positive for COVID-19. Health officials in Shillong are tracking all high-risk contacts.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman Warr on Monday informed that 104 high-risk contacts had been traced from the two positive cases who had attended the ceremony.
“Contact tracing is still going on since these people who attended the wedding ceremony have roamed all over the town. The 2-day lockdown will be used to carry out the contact tracing, and staff from the health department are out there working,” said Dr Warr.
Meanwhile, health and family welfare minister, AL Hek during a COVID briefing informed that the total number of active cases in the state so far is 277.
Hek, informed that the total number of active cases in East Khasi Hills District is 243 (182 BSF personnel, 2 Air Force personnel and 58 others), 20 in Ri-Bhoi district, 2 in East Jaintia Hills, 9 West Garo Hills, 2 South Garo Hills, 1 East Garo Hills and 1 in North Garo Hills.
The Greenwood Resort fiasco has led an outcry in the city. With citizens of the state questioning how a group of 41 were able to cross over to Assam when inter-state was restricted. The government’s unwillingness to share the details of the enquiry report on this case ha not gone down too well with the public.
