One more case of stabbing reported from Shillong, this time from Mawkhar area; victim assaulted by 2-3 masked miscreants, say reports; admitted to Civil Hospital
Shillong: Close on the heels of several incidents of violence in Meghalaya, which claimed the lives of three people recently, another man was reportedly stabbed by around two to three masked miscreants in Mawkhar area of capital Shillong on Thursday.
As per sources, the victim, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, has been admitted to the Civil Hospital. More details are awaited.
Meanwhile, mobile internet services have been partially restored in some districts of the state. As per some reports, mobile internet has been restored in East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi districts.
Earlier, mobile Internet services were suspended in six districts of Meghalaya -- East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills districts -- since 10 pm on Friday last week following violence in Ichamati in East Khasi Hills district in which one person was killed. SMS services of all mobile service providers were also limited to only five SMS per day.
The development came after six persons were stabbed at Bara Bazar area of capital Shillong on Saturday morning, of which one succumbed to his injuries at Civil Hospital. Another critically injured person was shifted to Nazareth Hospital for further treatment.
Following this, curfew was re-imposed at Lumdienjiri and areas under Sadar Police Station of Shillong on Saturday afternoon.
Curfew was first imposed in Shillong and adjoining areas from 10 pm on Friday last week after one person was killed in a clash between Khasi Students' Union (KSU) activists and some non-tribals at Ichamati under Shella constituency of East Khasi Hills district.
