New incubation centre at NEHU, inaugurated by HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, aims to provide mentorship, knowledge networks, market access and financial support to startups in the state
Shillong: Union minister of human resource development (HRD) Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Friday inaugurated the Anath Ashram Secondary School and also launched three other projects meant to improve the education sector in Meghalaya.
Pokhriyal, who was on a visit to the state, e-launched the incubation centre of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Shillong and Tura campus, Language Lab for College of Teacher Education (PGT), Agri Clinic and Agri-Business Centre for NEHU, Tura Campus and the Anath Ashram Secondary School.
This incubation centre aims to provide mentorship, knowledge networks, market access and financial support for entrepreneurial startups.
Briefing the media, Pokhriyal said that the Centre is assisting the state government fully to improve the education sector and wants to take it to new heights of improvement.
Asked about the demand for setting up of a state university, he assured that the Centre will provide all the required assistance. Besides, there are already institutes of repute like the NIT and IIM, which are doing really well, he said.
Meanwhile, state education minister Lahkmen Rymbui informed that discussions were held with the Union HRD minister on the proposal to start BEd courses in Kiang Nangbah College in Jowai, which was accepted and the process for starting it would be soon done by the institute.
