Close to 25 suspected Bangladeshi miscreants entered into Indian Territory attacking BSF personnel and a civilian also looting the civilian
Shillong: In the wee hours of Wednesday morning, suspected Bangladeshi miscreants entered into Indian territory from Rhongkum, West Jaintia Hills and attacked the Border Security Force.
According to a statement issued by the BSF, a group of 20 to 25 suspected Bangladeshi miscreants infiltrated into Indian territory. The miscreants were armed with dahs and other sharp edge weapons, attacking a BSF personnel leaving him injured.
"In View of reports of likely intrusion by Bangladesh miscreants, BSF has intensified its vigil along the International Border to curb any illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi miscreants. One of the miscreant had attacked a personnel with a weapon. In the mean while troops from the nearby BSF Border Out Post also rushed to the spot. The miscreants taking advantage of thick foliage, darkness and fog ran away from there," mentioned the statement.
Meanwhile, the miscreants entered into the house of Pratap resident of Amdoh village, West Jaintia Hills. Seeing the miscreants, Pratap fired at them with his weapon. Since the miscreants were in large numbers they attacked him with dah and injured him.
Beforw the BSF party reached the spot, the miscreants had already escaped to Bangladesh. BSF evacuated the injured civilian to PHC Dawki.
The BSF conducted a flag meeting with BGB and lodged a strong protest. BGB officers visited the place of occurrence and later confirmed that they had identified the culprits and appropriate action as per law of the land will be taken against them.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya police have mentioned that 2 BSF jawans and a civilian were injured.
