The 8th edition of the 3-day-long ‘winter travel exhibition’ to be held at All Saints’ Hall in Shillong; to be inaugurated by governor Tathagata Roy
Shillong: The eighth edition of the winter travel exhibition 'Travel & Tourism Bazaar' will be held at All Saints’ Hall in Shillong, Meghalaya from November 20 to 22.
This year’s exhibition will see participation from organisations such as Jharkhand Tourism, Rajasthan Tourism, Goa Tourism, West Bengal Tourism, Uttarakhand Tourism, India Tourism, Meghalaya Tourism, Jammu & Kashmir Tourism, Institute of Hotel Management and Thomas Cook India, among others.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by the governor of Meghalaya Tathagata Roy which will be followed by a musical programme later in the day.
While speaking with reporters, Travel & Tourism Bazaar director Amit Biswas said, “It will be the first time for Uttarakhand Tourism and Jammu & Kashmir Tourism to take part in the exhibition. This exhibition is basically a business-to-client platform.”
He added that during the first two years of this exhibition, there was not much response but gradually there has been some progress now. “If people are interested in visiting a state say like Rajasthan, they can easily interact with the director for Rajasthan and they will be given in-depth information about the places to visit, how to reach the place and many other details,” added Biswas.
But in a world of technology with access to Internet, are these exhibition helpful? Biswas said, “Internet will not give you the proper information required. Maybe they will give you the distance and places to stay but one will not get the perfect idea, hence this exhibition is being held.”
Stalls and other activities will also be in place in order to entertain the people visiting the exhibition.
Travel & Tourism Bazaar (TTB) started its journey in 2008 with a few travel professionals of Kolkata to create awareness as well as highlight the various aspects of tourism. Within a span of few years, TTB has become one of the major travel fairs operating in the eastern part of the country consisting of Kolkata, Shillong, and Ranchi. The fair is held every year during the winters in between the month of November and February.
